The brief
For this home EV charging installation in Fleetwood, the customer preferred a compact charger without a permanently attached cable.
An untethered charge point looks clean when it is not in use. The customer simply connects their own Type 2 lead between the car and the charger whenever they need to charge, and stores it away afterwards.
Planning for a coastal property
Properties around Fleetwood and the Fylde Coast take a lot of wind-driven rain and salt-laden air, so charger selection, positioning, cable entries and external connections all need extra thought if the installation is going to last.
Our team chose a suitably sheltered, weather-rated location and planned the cable route to keep the equipment accessible while keeping the finish neat.
The charger was mounted securely and supplied from a dedicated EV circuit, with every exterior cable entry properly finished and sealed as part of the installation.
Testing and handover
With the physical installation complete, our electrician tested the circuit and the charge point, then demonstrated its operation to the customer.
We also explained how to lock or restrict access to the charger where the unit supports it, how to schedule charging, and how to store the detachable lead safely between uses.
